The last time I went abroad and I was looking around for villas to rent in Spain I decided on going up into to the mountains. I was looking for a place to rent for about six months; I was not really sure how long I was going to stay there. I am an artist by trade and the way that I saw things was that I was going to paint the scenery for as long as I could before I had to get back to reality again. So there was no point in me trying to get a hold of a property for the long-term. If you are going over to Spain and looking to rent the property on the short-term then you should always look at renting villas in inland. The scenery is spectacular and there is still plenty to do so long as you do as the Spanish do.

My wife and I recently took our summer vacation in France and spent a really enjoyable two weeks driving around sampling the sites and the great food and drink for which the French are famous. We spent one whole week in the Languedoc Roussillon region and I can definitely recommend it if you’ve not already been. One day in particular that stands out was our trip to the small fortified town of Aigues Mortes down on the coast not far from Nimes. This town used to be a medieval stronghold but today is a great tourist attraction, a bit like the city of Carcassonne but on a much smaller scale and right by the coast making it perfect for a day on the beach. I suggest getting there for lunch and then heading for the sands.

While Hurricane Mitch ripped through the Yucatan Peninsula in 2005, it not only destroyed homes and took lives; it also took a very large amount of sand from the beaches of Cancun.  Because the Mexican government realizes the huge amount of Cancun vacation dollars come in from tourists and the like, they set to fixing the situation almost as soon as the storm was over.  Millions of pounds of sand were sucked from the sea bed, and some even trucked in from other locations around the country.  To this day the battle to keep the beaches full if sand continues and purchasers of Cancun vacation packages are strongly recommended to check with their hotel about the condition of the beach before traveling.  Spending time in and around Cancun, Mexico can be one of the best experiences of your life.
