Cheap Tiles In The Bathroom
We’ve lived in some pretty shabby places. The most memorable was this apartment in a set of
building that had been built for ex-convicts. You know, government housing. Poorly built,
meant to keep these people out of the worst weather. Eventually that population moved on,
and it became a neighborhood for the not-so-wealthy. We found something dirt cheap with
lots of space, and innocently signed a contract. It was great. Mold and floods in the
winter, endless ants and cockroaches in the summer. The funniest things are always those
small details, though: the cheap tiles in the bathroom were so cheap that toilet cleaner
actually stained them for the rest of eternity. Some splashing in a cleaning frenzy, and it
looked like someone had burned toothpaste into the floor.
