Is Prescription Drug Addiction Dangerous?
Many people do not realize the full danger inherent in prescription drug addiction these days. This has quickly overtaken both alcohol and marijuana as the new drug of choice among young people and in some cases it has proven to be quite deadly.
Not only that, but prescription drug addiction is leading towards a big push toward more heroin being introduced to young people. Because they are hooked on pain medicine, it is easy for a drug dealer to push them towards heroin as a natural replacement for the pills that they may have run out of. This can obviously lead to even worse problems, including the tendency for more overdoses and higher crime. It is also dangerous because people tend to justify it and think that prescriptions are safe because they are not a street drug.
