Low GI Diet – Foods to eat

Low GI diets are a great way to lose some weight. However if you really need to have some high GI favorite foods in your diet, serve yourself a small portion, and then add a low GI food. If you are sitting down to dinner, half your plate should be filled with vegetables, and then you should have ¼ plate of a low GI carb and ¼ plate of protein.

Just because a food is not high GI doesn’t mean it’s good for you to eat. There are low GI foods that should not be a regular part of your diet. You should use the low GI guidelines only after you have selected healthy foods to include in your meals or snacks. Select foods that are rich in nutrients and have low amounts of saturated fat in them first. Then use the GI index to help choose the best carbs from the foods you have short-listed.
