Restoring Your Smile
When considering your options for replacing one or more missing teeth, don’t dismiss dental implants out of hand simply because of their relatively high cost or the lengthy process you have to go through to get them. Yes, these are significant and legitimate concerns, but consider this:
A typical traditional method of replacing one single tooth is installing a three-part bridge. This involves grinding down the two teeth on either side of the gap into stumps to accommodate the crowns that will form either end of the bridge. This compromises what were perfectly healthy teeth. Then when it comes to the time when that bridge needs to be replaced in 5 to 10 years, you may find that one or both of those stumps will need to be pulled or are no longer capable of supporting the bridge, so the dentist will have to go the next tooth.
A dental implant affects only the tooth that’s missing. The implant stops bone loss that occurs when you lose a tooth, so your face maintains its appearance. The implant is permanent. No embarrassing fallouts, no painful eating. These alone are priceless, really, but cheap dental implants can be found if you qualify.
