Types of Protein Powder

Saturday, October 3rd, 2009

There are so many types of protein powder out in the marketplace right now.  How to choose? Typically, there are four basic sources that protein powders are made from: you have whey protein powder (from milk), egg, rice, and soy protein powder. They can also be created from a mixture of one or more of these protein sources- like egg and rice, for example.  These protein sources are concentrated and made  into a powder form, that can be mixed with water or fruit juice or milk to create a liquid or a protein shake. But you can use the powder for more than just shakes.  Think about adding some protein powder to your morning cereal, yogurt, baked goods, or other special recipes.  Get creative and get some extra protein!

Three Kinds Of Gym People

Friday, August 14th, 2009

Like a lot of guys my age – around thirty, by the way – I work out at a gym from time to time.  Based on what I see while on the treadmill and in the pool I think the gym is built for three kinds of people.  The first kind is the super ripped body builder guys that snort protein powder through their nose and can bench press the state of Rhode Island.  The second is people like me, with some extra luggage to lose but not going for the “Arnold” look.  And the third group is there just to be able to say they are there.  You can tell these last types by the lack of sweat they exude while walking on the treadmill…at a half mile an hour.  What really chaps my hide is usually these “gym visitors” as I call them are all in better shape than me.
